Cousin Nancy and the Bertrand Clan: I want to offer my sincere and heart felt condolences to the family for the loss of Silvio from our lives. Regrettably I am unable to attend the Celebration of Silvios Life on Thursday. You are in my prayers. I will remember Silvio's kind and caring ways, his smile and good nature and his down to earth attitude. We've been friends with Nancy and Sil for over 30 years and have lots of good memories to look back on, some of which include summers and even New Years Eve in Halls Lake (in our 30's) pig roasts and cottage time in Orillia, a holiday down south in the islands to the Dominican, canasta games and always lots of laughs and fun. There were a few years that we lost touch but as friends do, reunited again and thanks to technology and emails, we've keep in touch. We spent a weekend in Swastika last year where we congratulated each other on aging so nicely! Thanks Sil for the memories and the time we spent together. We're only sorry that it was cut off too short but you'll be forever in our memories and in our hearts. Love Mishel and Dianne

I recall so many fond memories at the Bertrand's especially always feeling welcome in their home. Experiences there shaped my life tremendously. I was in awe as I sat on their couch viewing [for thr first time]a cowboy show, possibly "The Lone Ranger" [in black & white] on their TV, the first one in the neighbourhood, I believe. One afternoon we were reenacting a cowboy scene in their back yard which was encompassed by huge trees from which there was a noose hanging from one of them. Thank God, Mrs. Bertrand, a very caring loving mother came out and ended that idea. We also frequented the "Club House" at the end of their shed where we innocently experienced our "first kiss". We loved to play "Hit the Can", and rolled up thin pieces of cardboard, lit it and attempted to smoke it. YUCK! I also recall enjoying one of our favourite treats, white bread broken into pieces, placed in a bowl, covered with milk and brown sugar. We also had great times swimming off the diving board raft in Bob's Lake]constructed by I believe, Corky Hall's grandfather. One day, my sister Gale and Cecille who had a spat with Helen Johnston were attempting to pass by the Johnston's via the laneway between the houses. Helen wouldn't allow this so my Mother hooked a snake [she had just killed] over a thick branch and suggested they threaten to fling it. That did the trick and they successfully made their way to the Bertrand's. As quickly as we could have an issue, we became friends again even more quickly. Carlene, do you remember the "photo ops" at the rocks across Bob's Lake between you, Lloydine and I? {Quite the bathing beauties we were.]
Silvio {Tibee] was such a genuinely nice person with a great personality, so kind, helpful, peaceful nature, dependable and so good looking! Many of us young girls had a huge crush on him. How could you not? He was the whole package....every mother's dream for her daughter. I just realized that Silvio was born in the same year as my sister Gale who lost her battle in February this year. Gale was born in January while Silvio was born in May 1943. That must have been the year for really awesome people. I feel very comforted that you will be joining Gale and others on your journey as a peaceful spirit. Please give Gale a big hug for me Tibee. You will forever be etched in our minds. Thanks for the great memories!

Our families have known each other for over half a century. The Bertrand's used to brag about having 10 kids and we only had 8.I had a crush on Tibee at 13, but he wouldn't give me the time of day because he was all grown up at 17. My sister Helen cut Tibee's hair for a date. He looked in the mirror and saw a bald spot and freaked. She did a fast repair job with black shoe polish and Tibee went on his merry way. We had rock and slab fights over the back fence, jumped on Mr Saari's hay stacks, sneaked through Mr. Pompeli's yard to walk to the beach, raided gardens, played hit the can. In later years we usually met at Mrs B's birthday party.It has been a wonderful friendship with Tibee and his family.
Tibee and the Bertrand's will always hold a special place in my heart. Goodbye, Tibee.
