Obituary of Christopher Laughlin

Passed away at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Friday June 30th, 2023 at the age of 34 years. Loving father of Owen Laughlin and stepfather of Leighton Readman. Cherished son of Cathy and Scott Sears. Dear grandson of Phil and Liz Bradford and Linda Sears (late Gord). Cherished big brother of Samantha and Cody Laughlin. Chris will be missed and lovingly remembered by Owen & Leighton's Mother Brandy, his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He will be especially missed by his best friends and furry children, Sasha and Hank. Cherished partner Katlin Garbutt. Chris loved the outdoors, hunting, trapping, and fishing but mostly he loved spending time with his kids. A celebration of life will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street East in Orillia on Friday July 14th , 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Sick Kids Hospital or to Addictions and Mental Health Ontario in Christopher’s name. I can see you're all feeling sad, I can see the tears still flow. My life's journey ended early, The path I chose was short. You all tried your best to change it, But in the end it was for me to sort. I know I caused you sadness, I know I caused you pain, But I was captured by these demons, They wouldn't set me free again. They took away my freedom, They took away my choice, And when they got their hooks in, You could hear it in my voice. There were times I tried to fight them, There was a time I nearly won, But they came back and overpowered me, I had nowhere left to run. I haven't really left you guys, I am closer than you know, I will be the whisper in the wind, I will be everywhere you go.
