A few years ago, I was in line with my four children at Mariposa Market ordering lunch. I decided to take my children there instead of a local fast food restaurant. As I was waiting for my order, Jacqueline lifted up my drink on my tray and placed a $100 bill underneath and stated that lunch was on her. I was breathless as she was a complete stranger to me. I told her I could not accept it, but she insisted. That day she paid it forward, and I realized even though I had never met her before she had a kind heart, and I have never forgotten how she brightened my day. So sorry for your loss.

I was so saddened to hear of Jacqui's passing. She was one of my favourite teachers at Franklin St. P.S. when I was in grade 8. She was very unique and really challenged us to learn new things. To teach us to have empathy for people with disabilities, she arranged for the class to use wheelchairs for a day. We were split into pairs with one person sitting in the chair in the morning with the other helping and we switched for the afternoon. It was an eye opening experience. She also guided us to write our first novel and she even had it laminated for us. I still have that book today, I was so proud of it! She was really one of a kind and I am very blessed to have had her as my teacher. May she rest in peace. My sincere condolences to her family.

Jacqui was one vivacious lady. She and I were instrumental in starting up the Boxgrove co-op Nursery with Janine as our principal teacher. Stephen may not remember, but my son Russ de Souza and he were in school when it started. Jacqui was so energetic and passionate.
