Obituary of Jan Tissot van Patot
Tissot van Patot, J. M. H.
1929-01-03 to 2015-02-07
After many years of declining health, Jan passed away in his 87th year on February 7, 2015. He leaves behind his wife and best friend Suus, after 62 years of marriage; His children: Gail Kelly (Doug), Toronto, Andrew (Karen), Luxembourg, Brian (Natalie), Sudbury, Neil (predeceased); His eight precious grandchildren; and family in the Netherlands.
Jan was born in Den Helder, the Netherlands. He married Suus on 28 March 1953 and shortly thereafter they immigrated to Canada. Jan loved Canada and spent many hours in the wilderness: camping, canoeing and hiking. He traveled extensively throughout Canada and the world.
Jan studied at the University of Utrecht, University of Toronto and McGill University where he was awarded a Master of Science (Meteorology). He had a long and varied career with the Canadian Meteorological Service in all parts of Canada: including far flung places such as Moose Jaw, Labrador, and Resolute Bay in the high Arctic. He was fascinated by the weather; Meteorology was both his profession and his greatest hobby.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kathy Michalski for always being there for Jan and the staff of Trillium Manor for their compassionate and outstanding care.
Jan lived a good and interesting life. As per Jan's wishes there will be a private family gathering only. Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.simcoefuneralhome.ca
