Obituary of Shirley Aileen Whalen

Whalen, Shirley Aileen (nee Booth) (Shirley was a proud veteran of WWII, and enjoyed playing semi professional baseball in her younger years). Peacefully passed away at Leacock Care Centre, Orillia on Tuesday July 5th, 2016 in her 91st year with family at her side. Beloved wife of the late Bert Whalen. Much loved mother of Leslie Laybourne (Donald), Debbie Friesen (David). Cherished grandmother of Michael Readman (Angie), Jesse Laybourne (Erin), Rebecca Boudreau (Darren), and Christopher Friesen; great grandmother of Aliyah, Matthew, Chase, Ryder, and Jack. Predeceased by her loving parents Arthur and Mona Booth. Dear sister of Yvonne Smith, Faye Cornish, and Marlene Mawdsley. Predeceased by her brothers Ernie Booth, and Arthur Booth. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 58 Peter Street N. Orillia on Friday July 8th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Society through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. Orillia ON.
