To My ‘Buddy’ – Tom
JeeWhiz!! Will I ever miss YOU!! - Calling for care, only to find out you had found a *New* potato chip flavor, or a new type of chocolate confection that you just HAD TO Share!! You ALWAYS put a smile on my face! I used to LOVE the way, when your cable/TV would ‘go on the fritz’ – you’d call in a ‘panic’ – ask for help, and then try to convince me I was a Hero and an Absolute Genius for pushing a button on the remote to change modes!!! Oh My Gosh – How you’d make me laugh!! Loved how Excited & Happy you were around Christmas – You Were The Christmas Spirit!!!!!
Dear Tom – You always tried so hard – always so respectful to me and Always willing to get along!! Loved how incredibly PROUD you ALWAYS were of your family – dear friends and colleagues and how you loved to talk of them – so fondly. Oh my Gosh - And Brown Sugar!!
I so miss bringing you coffee/water/juice (instead of….) and how patiently you’d always (try to ;-D) wait for care & assistance – or to share a story – your excitement over a Packers win!!!! How you’d respectfully correct my salute!! You never complained (to me ;-D) and always did try to see and speak of the Best in people!! Never spoke behind anyone’s back – only good things. (OK – so maybe during the Presidential election….. ;-D)
Miss You ‘Buddy’/ Sir!! It has been Such an HONOUR to get to know you a bit and spend some time with you - Sir!! Your character, genuine & sincere love of humanity – your diligence in striving to treat people with respect and honour – let’s just say Sir – You are ‘One in a Million’!!!

We loved Tom, whose smiling face and indomitable spirit graced St. James Anglican Church on Sundays. Always a hug and a joking greeting from a man whose fashion sense rivaled the stars of today. We could hardly wait to see what combinations he had chosen each Sunday.....and of course, relished the conversations and jokes that were indicative of his ever-present sense of humour......even on days where we could tell he was not feeling so great.
.....and then there were the Take-A-Vet-to-Dinner events, where we had many delightful times with Tom, Dad - Bud Trivett, and so many others who defended Canada, and the world, during the war. So many stories, shared.
We will miss him dearly. Please except our deepest sympathy on the great loss of your Dad, and Grandfather. He was one-of-a-kind!
Wilf Trivett and Sue Newman
